Our limited edition release of a bottle label designed by world-famous ocean muralist Wyland gave $1 from every sale to The Wyland Foundation. His foundation centers around educational programs in communities and schools, sharing with children the importance of ocean conservation.

This summer Blue Shark Vodka is partnering with The Atlantic Shark Institute. This organization conducts critical research and provides much-needed support and resources to the most respected shark researchers working in the northwest Atlantic. The result is high quality shark research completed in an open and collaborative way. The goal of the Atlantic Shark Institute is to partner with these researchers to answer the most pressing questions of biology, survival and sustainability of sharks in the northwest Atlantic Ocean.

Estimates show between 10 million and 100 million sharks are killed annually worldwide. For many species, harvests are not sustainable and an alarming number of species are considered vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered as a result. 


This summer The Atlantic Shark Institute will tag 10 female blue sharks — something rare for the organization. Blue Shark Vodka will adopt one of the tagged sharks and help fund the research. Blue Shark Vodka Partners with Conservation Artist Wyland New Collector Bottles to Debut over 4th of July

Blue Shark Vodka announced a new partnership with conservation artist Wyland, who is a world-renowned whale artist, sculptor, photographer and painter of the landmark Whaling Wall murals. The artist has collaborated with Blue Shark Vodka to create an original oil painting that has been digitally reproduced, printed and placed on a new 750mL collector bottles. “It is a deep honor to be working with such an esteemed and celebrated artist,” said Blue Shark Vodka founder Mark “Chief” Bloomquist. “His work is truly phenomenal, and we think his artistic style makes a great pairing with our brand mission—and on our bottles!” Blue Shark Vodka is debuting the new collector bottles this week and is working with the Wyland Foundation, which delivers art and science education directly into needy communities. “My art has always been about art and conservation,” Wyland said. “I was inspired in the early 70s by Green Peace, the first Earth Day, and from watching my hero Jacques Cousteau’s Undersea World television series. I was simply an artist in the right place at the right time in history, and I felt strongly that art could play an important role in bringing attention to environmental issues. Blue Sharks are becoming endangered! My collaboration with the Bloomquist family is going to be great. They have created a clear spirit like the waters we all love to explore, swim, and dive in, with a smooth, clean taste. Yes, we are all divers too!” Blue Shark Vodka launched in 2019 with tremendous success and support throughout New Hanover County and beyond. Consumers can now purchase Blue Shark Vodka in all North Carolina ABC stores in 750mL bottles. The Detroit-born artist has been called a “Marine Michelangelo” by USA Today and recognized for his art and conservation efforts both by the United Nations and on the floor of the United States Congress. The Guinness Book of World Records has also recognized Wyland for painting the largest mural ever, covering 116,000 square feet (more than three acres): a giant ocean mural named Planet Ocean, dedicated July 9, 1992, on the Long Beach Arena convention center in Long Beach, CA.
