Here’s what Connor Barth is drinking (and predicting) for Super Bowl 55

Blue Shark Vodka spokesperson Connor Barth has a connection to Super Bowl 55 not many can claim.

The former NFL kicker played for both the Kansas City Chiefs AND the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his 10-year career.

Barth holds more than one franchise record for the Bucs, namely being their most accurate kicker in team history. He converted 83.8% of his field goal attempts and holds the record for most consecutive field goals (25 in 2012.)

So how would a former player even choose between his two teams? We asked him about his pick for the big game, plus a great recipe he will be making Sunday. Read below!

Q: How are you going to choose who to cheer for Sunday?

A: It’s a tough pick because the Chiefs gave me my start, but really I’m a Buccaneer at heart after spending more seasons there than for any of the other teams I played for. I have more buddies playing for the Bucs right now. I’m predicting Tampa Bay will win, with my buddy from Hickory, North Carolina Ryan Succop scoring the game-winning point.

Q: What is it like to see your former teams head-to-head in the Super Bowl?

A: I really never thought this would happen, and deep down I think I’m a little jealous! I played for 10 years and even went to the playoffs, but never the Super Bowl. My hat is off to two great organizations that have both done so well to get here.

Q: I know you always drink Blue Shark Vodka on game day — what drink are you starting off with?

A: As sort of a family tradition with my dad, we always make Bloody Marys and it is the perfect drink with Blue Shark. We go all out for them — sometimes a strip of bacon in each one, or I love bleu cheese-stuffed olives and pickled okra. I salt the rim with Old Bay seasoning and celery sticks really make it look great.

I’m also going to make a new drink created by Blue Shark’s distiller Brooke. She created something called a Touchdown Tea and I’m thinking about making it for my family, especially my mom who loves tea.

Make a Bloody Mary a la Connor Barth or check out our recipe for Touchdown Tea below. Be sure to “tag a Blue or two” and tag your creations on Instagram and Facebook.
